Curators Nessia Pope and Paulo Herkenhorff organized an exhibition at CCBB/Rio that addressed the representation of Brazil by non-Brazilian artists. Their goal was to gather work by artists who employed an inventive approach to this representation, on that went beyond bias, appearances, and exoticism. Bruce Weber was among 20 artists included in the show, which was installed in central Rio. The curators selected several images from Bruce's landmark book, O Rio di Janiero (Knopf, 1986).
